10/03/2005: "A great site for estimating your sites vistor numbers or your competitors"

Alex told me about this site sometime ago and I made a note in my list of links and stuff to look at and blog. This site is StatBrain.com. This is a great site. You simply enter the domain name you want to test and hit the button. The engine does its stuff and estimates the number of visitors that you get daily. This is sometimes near the mark and sometimes high and not too often low. The site works by gathering public information such as Alexa rank, google links and so on. It then uses some internal algorithm and estimates the sites visitors. The idea is that people give feedback on whether it’s close, high or low and then it changes its internal weighting. So the sites engine is learning all the time.

I like this site, even though it’s not too accurate, it’s quite close. You can also use it to check the number of visitors that your competitors get or similar sites.
